Rail Safety Awareness

Safety in rail freight terminals is not just a regulatory obligation it is a must for operational resilience, reputational integrity, and long-term success. While the UK freight sector has seen a decline in reportable terminal incidents in recent years, working and operating within any rail terminal remains a high risk activity and as such there is a need for all individuals involved to be fully equipped with the best information and knowledge to stay safe.

Encouragingly, industry efforts such as those led by the National Freight Safety Group and RSSB’s Freight Safe Programme are driving improvement through data-led initiatives and collaborative best practices. However, incidents continue to expose the need for consistent, hands-on awareness and practical safety training at ground level.

In response to this, Legge Infrastructure Services has developed and successfully delivered a targeted Rail Terminal Safety Awareness Course, designed specifically for terminal operators, logistics teams, and on-site contractors that interface within a rail environment. The course equips teams with the practical knowledge and safety-first mindset required to manage terminal operations proactively and prevent avoidable incidents.
