Rail Operations and Terminal Management - Sizewell C Contract Award
LIS are delighted to announce that we have been officially awarded the contract for Rail Operations and Terminal Management with Sizewell C.
As an SME providing specialist rail consultancy services to major infrastructure projects in the UK, being a supplier to Sizewell C is an important step in our growth. This project will enable us to further demonstrate the real value independent rail freight operations can bring - from designing the complete rail freight logistics strategy, to managing live rail terminals within a construction project.
Our team has been supporting the Sizewell C project since 2022, working alongside the Client to help shape and deliver the rail freight strategy and rail terminal solution, working within the DCO process and constraints. This will enable an efficient Materials by Rail service to meet the projects demands within a heavily constrained operating environment.
Following a successful tender earlier this year, we have been formally announced as the project partner for Rail Operations and Terminal Management. Under this new 3-year contract, we will provide expert, embedded personnel to integrate directly with the Sizewell C site operations and delivery team. Our specialist staff will manage the Rail Control Tower and terminal infrastructure across 2 rail terminals at Sizewell C, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the terminals for use by Sizewell C suppliers Materials by Rail trains. From Terminal slot allocation, scheduling and safety compliance to stakeholder coordination with Network Rail, freight operators, and the Civil Works Alliance supply chain partners, our team is proud to contribute to maximising the use of rail freight by Sizewell C Suppliers that will be pivotal to the success of this nationally strategic infrastructure project.
As part of our commitment to the local community surrounding Sizewell C, our embedded rail team will comprise over 40% of staff employed from the local area, where we will facilitate the training and upskilling of our employees, ensuring they possess all the skills and knowledge required to thrive within their role and benefit their future careers within the Rail Logistics and Construction Industry.
